Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Share the Adventure:

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has to be one of the best zoos we’ve ever been to. Here are 3 reasons you should make this one of your next must see zoos. 1. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s location Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is built on the slopes of a mountain in Colorado Springs, CO. This is so unique and different than we’ve experienced elsewhere. So not only are you seeing neat things within the zoo itself, but you look one direction and see the…

Exploring the Dillon Ice Castle

Exploring the Dillon Ice Castle

Share the Adventure:

This winter we checked out the Dillon Ice Castle in Dillon, CO. It was so neat and we highly recommend it for folks in the area next year. What is the Dillon Ice Castle? The Dillon Ice Castle is a man-made winter wonderland. There are walls, spires, towers, domes, columns, icicles that shimmer in the sun and are alternately bright white or a deep blue as you gaze around at them. At night they are lit with lights that cycle…

Share the Adventure:

The Butterfly Pavilion is located in Westmister, CO and is a fun afternoon activity. It not only has the obvious butterfly area, but multiple other rooms with other interesting creatures. There are tarantulas of which you can hold one but none of us did. There are bees, scorpions, beetles, starfish, horseshoe crabs, and so much more. The butterflies are in a tropical rainforest enclosure. As you wander around the paths there are butterflies everywhere you look. They have fruit set…

Ouray & Durango – Babymoon! & Second Maternity Photo Shoot

Share the Adventure:

Ever heard of a Babymoon? In a sense it’s like a honeymoon, but it’s a getaway or time spent together before the baby arrives, since we know things will get crazy busy then! We spent our Babymoon in Ouray and Durango, Colorado. We added a few days onto a weekend and headed out to Ouray. Ouray is just beautiful. The town feels like it is just nestled in among the mountains. We stayed at a cute place called the Ouray…

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park

Share the Adventure:

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is located in Canon City, Colorado. We took our trailer out several weekends ago for a delayed anniversary getaway. We’d wanted to go here for awhile, but due to a wildfire in 2013 that burned down most of the structures we had to wait until it was open and operational again. The place looks great, and though you can tell they’re still working on some things, they’ve rebuilt so much and even improved upon it…

Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Share the Adventure:

We’d heard that there was a yearly Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. We’d missed it last year but decided to start our Easter morning this year by going to this service. As early as it was we realized it would be a lot harder to get up and out the door next year or any future year when children are involved. The place was very busy when we arrived. The service begins at 6am and gates open at 4:30am….

Buena Vista – Hiking & First Maternity Photo Shoot

Buena Vista – Hiking & First Maternity Photo Shoot

Share the Adventure:

We’d been hankering to get back to Buena Vista for some time. Basically we were waiting until the weather was good enough to take the trailer through the mountains to get out there. A glorious weekend presented itself and we were off. It’s interesting to think about the fact that the last time I was in Buena Vista, I was pregnant, but I didn’t know it yet! We also haven’t de-winterized the trailer yet, meaning we don’t have water in…

Denver Zoo Lights

Denver Zoo Lights

Share the Adventure:

Denver Zoo Lights is an event where the zoo is lit up by lots and lots of little shimmering lights in all different colors throughout the park. Some are just strands of lights providing festive ambiance, while many others are animal figures illuminated in colorful lights, very appropriate for the location of course. The event is centered around the holiday season and this year ran through most of December and into the beginning of the new year. We actually made…

Buena Vista & Leadville, CO

Buena Vista & Leadville, CO

Share the Adventure:

Buena Vista has become one of our new CO favorites, especially for K. He absolutely loves this area and I can’t disagree. It is in the Arkansas River valley, with views of the Collegiate Range and many other 14ers. We took a weekend trip out together and stayed in a local hotel called the Surf Chateau that overlooks the Arkansas River and the bluffs above. It’s a neat relatively new hotel with an interesting concept. There is no lobby, and…

Steamboat Springs, CO – Fall Colors Extravaganza

Steamboat Springs, CO – Fall Colors Extravaganza

Share the Adventure:

Steamboat Springs has got to be one of the go to places for fall colors in Colorado. There are plenty of others, but considering we were a little later than we would have hoped getting away for the weekend to see the leaves because of a lot of work travel I had been doing, this area still had a lot of color. It’s nice because fall almost seems like it is prolonged in the Denver area because if the leaves…
