We’ve hit the road!

After months of preparation we are now on the road. We are so thrilled to have kick started our adventure. And here is the perfect place to again thank everyone for their support as we planned for this get-away. The response we received from friends, family, and coworkers was overwhelmingly positive and we are so blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!

In life, you realize that some things don’t go according to plan.  Things sometimes have to change along the way and you’re usually better off if you can smile, shrug it off, and figure out another way forward. My Dad has another way of putting it.  He says “Suck it up, buttercup!”  So, even though we originally planned to go first to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky, getting final things taken care of at home and getting out of town delayed us just long enough that we decided to skip it. We told ourselves we’d be flexible enough along the way that we would cut out or add in things as needed. The final plan is built as we go along!

We are now in Evansville, IN. Good friends of ours, Z and J live here. C and Z went to college together.  We’ve had a great time relaxing, hanging out, and catching up. We are planning on staying here until early next week. Here are some pictures.

11 miles per gallon…but our SUV “The Tank” keeps on truckin’.

Safety first! We have a pretty sweet mirror set-up thanks to friends S and K!

Crossing the Ohio River from Kentucky into Indiana.

Great time of year for travel, with various flowering trees and fields. There was yellow everywhere.

Contemplating new patio furniture.

What our friends ended up with instead. What a great night to BBQ!

C made a new friend.

Visiting the local brewery, Tin Man. Their motto is “Ordinary Beer Does Not Compute”, ha!

Parked out in front of our friends’ home, and plugged in too!
